I am a recent graduate from the Master of Information program at the Faculty of Information and the Centre for Environment at the University of Toronto.

My academic roots are in the social sciences. I completed my B.A. and M.A. in anthropology at the University of Alberta and it was during this time that I really became interested in the links between culture, technology, and the environment. During my M.A., I joined the Rocky Mountain Repeat Photography Project (RMRPP), an interdisciplinary team of researchers working on a vision for ecological restoration in Jasper National Park, Alberta. The work of the RMRPP subsequently became the subject of my master’s thesis research as I sought to understand the team's use of maps, photographs, and digital technologies to advance their particular account of the changing landscape of Jasper.

After completing my M.A. in 2003, I worked for five years for several environmental non-governmental organizations in Banff and Canmore, Alberta. Part of the joy of working for small, grassroots organizations was that we got to do it all. In an organization of 2 - 5 people, everyone contributes to everything from office administration, fund-raising, budget management, writing, communications design, community outreach, research. . .

My current research interests include environmental and information literacy, ethnographic methods in information and library research, and the roles of information professionals as agents of social change. I hope to explore these issues as I embark on a career in academic librarianship.
